Austin-based Icon’s newest project could make life on Mars possible

Austin-based 3D printing construction company Icon is building a 1,700-foot Mars simulation habitat for NASA that will host three year-long crews and be used to study how humans may be able to live in space one day. Renderings show what the structure could look like on Mars.

As NASA prepares for its “upcoming big leap” — meaning astronauts on Mars — technology created by Austin-based 3-D printing design company Icon is aiding pave the way. 

Icon has landed a subcontract with the Countrywide Aeronautics and House Administration, and is teaming with Bjarke Ingels Team, to build and design a habitation device that will assistance the room company improved have an understanding of how folks might be able to reside on Mars in the foreseeable future.
